Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany and Jack Thorne, a new play by Jack Thorne, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. The play received its world premiere in London’s West End on 30th July 2016.

It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.

While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.

My thoughts

I ordered my copy of "Harry Potter and the cursed child" in the UK and I couldn´t wait for it to arrive.

The cover is magnificent. A young child hiding inside one of the most popular devices of the wizarding world. Marvellous!

The story is different from all the other Harry Potter books. Harry and Hermione work in the Ministry Of Magic, Ron owns a shop and Ginny writes for the Daily Prophet. This time, the story focuses on their children. Albus, Harry´s and Ginny´s son, and Scorpius, Draco´s son, stick together no matter what. Even in realities that might never exist...

I loved Scorpius! A wonderful character. He is funny, charming and basically, adorable. When I first read the Harry Potter series I was instantly in love with Draco Malfoy and in "Harry Potter and the cursed child" he is his true self again.

J.K. Rowling is a genius, I guess we all agree on that. But her style of writing is what makes her even more unique and admirable. I was captivated by this story!

I hate happy endings, they´re not realistic and mostly, the happiness is too much. You´ll get to know Harry and his friends in a very different way. Not everything is sweet and full of unicorns. There are problems, even after defeating the Dark Lord. That´s one of the reasons I adored this book.

"Harry Potter and the cursed child" is one of the best books I´ve ever read and when I finished, I didn´t know what to think or do. I was overwhelmed by emotions and you should definitely read this book to experience it yourself.

      Liebe Grüße,
